SINGER TO APPEAR ON CBS’ HOLIDAY SPECIAL  “A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” TO AIR DECEMBER 23RD

Anti-Records/Universal Republic Records’ musician/activist Michael Franti has been given an early holiday gift - his first platinum single. “Say Hey (I Love You),” from his highest debuting CD All Rebel Rockers, is the feel-good hit of the year, having celebrated multi-format, multi-genre success. It has appeared on numerous Billboard Charts and has gone Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot AC Chart, Top 5 on Billboard Adult Top 40 Chart and recently #1 on iTunes’ Alternative Chart. Its video recently topped 4-million views on VEVO.

“’Say Hey (I Love You)’ just clicked past one million downloads and boy is my finger tired!” said Franti. But seriously, I'm grateful to all the fans, new and veteran, who have supported my music and told their friends about it, as well as all the radio and TV stations, who have rocked the song over the last year. If I told you I never ever expected the song to be so successful it would be an understatement. So thanks for the vote of approval and I look forward to sharing our new album with you in 2010!”

In addition, Franti took time away from the recording of his next CD last month, to appear on the 11th Anniversary CBS Network Special “A Home For The Holidays,” which airs at 8:00-9:00PM, ET/PT on December 23rd. The special shares compelling stories of families touched by foster care adoption, the result of which has been the adoption of nearly 25,000 children.

Franti will continue recording throughout the rest of the year and into 2010, before heading out on the road with John Mayer as his special guest on his “BattleStudies” tour, which gets underway on February 4th in Sunrise Florida at BankAtlantic Center.

Recognized as a leader in contemporary, socially conscious music for more than two decades, Franti and Spearhead have pioneered their brand of musical humanitarism all over the world. Franti and Spearhead's seminal 2001 album Stay Human began the band's ingenious hip hop, folk and funk genre-fusing, with 2006's Yell Fire and their current All Rebel Rockers exploring their more Reggae-inspired influences.
